Young Artists - Solo

*Participants who awarded the first prize in IAPC 2023, cannot apply for Young Artists category in IAPC 2024. Please apply for Professional Artists category.

Group Y1: Age 4-7,  Max.4 min

Group Y2: Age 8-11, Max.6 min

Group Y3: Age 12-14, Max.8 min

Group Y4: Age 15-17, Max.10 min

Professional Artists - Solo

*Professional Artists category is for young pianists who are educated as a music major students at any arts middle and high schools, or  who aim for music major in piano performance at arts middle schools, high schools, colleges and universities in the future.

Group P2: Age 8-11, Max.8 min

Group P3: Age 12-14, Max.10 min

Group P4: Age 15-17, Max.15 min

One Piano 4 hands

E1-1: 9 years of age and under, Max 5 min

E1-2: 10 - 13 years of age, Max 7 min

E1-3: 14- 18 years of age, Max 10 min

Two Pianos 4 hands

E2-1: 9 years of age and under, Max 5 min

E2-2: 10-13 years of age, Max 7min

E2-3: 14-18 years of age.

Repertoire

Young Artists - Solo Category Repertoire:

  • Group Y1: Age 4-7, up to 4 min

  • Group Y2: Age 8-11, up to 6 min

  • Group Y3: Age 12-14, up to 8 min

  • Group Y4: Age 15-17, up to 10 min

One Round only with 1-2 piece(s) in Baroque, Classical, Romantic, 20th-21st Century by classic composers and pianists (e.g. Kapustin, Say, Bolcom and Hamelin) freely chosen by participants.  All performances should be memorized.

Professional Artists - Solo Category Repertoire:

  • Group P1: Age 4-7, up to 6 min

  • Group P2: Age 8-11, up to 8 min

  • Group P3: Age 12-14, up to 10 min

  • Group P4: Age 15-17, up to 15 min

  • Participants in Group P3 and P4 must play an etude from Op. 10 and 25 by F. Chopin (except for Op. 10 no. 6 and Op. 25 no.1, 2 and 7), F. Liszt, A. Scriabin C. Debussy and S. Rachmaninoff. All performances should be memorized.

Piano Ensemble Category Repertoire:

  • Group E1 is for "one piano four hands" 

  • Group E2 is for "two piano four hands"

  • Participants must play at least one piece in fast tempo. Piano Concerto is not eligible. 

Video Submission

Deadline of Video Submission:  May 10th, 2024

Video Submission Guideline:

  • Each single piece played by candidates must be recorded in one take without edit.

  • The video should be recorded for last 1 year.

  • Include your name, tile, composer's name and category in the tile of video. Example: " John Browny" L.V Beethoven Sonata op.2 1st mov. Group Y4

  • If candidates play a complete work consisting of multiple movements such as piano sonatas and suites, each movement can be recorded separately.

  • The video should show whole body of candidates and keyboards in one angle.

  • The video must be uploaded on candidates' YouTube account and candidates should share the YouTube URL(s) of the video to International Altone Piano Competition.

  • All Recording will not be shared with anybody. However, the winners of Altone competition will be posted on Official Youtube channel and this website.

  • Candidates will not be judged on the quality of their recording equipment or instrument. Electronic keyboard recording will be accepted.
